Astronaut Chiaki Mukai Takes the Stage ~Think Universally, Act Locally~ Community Integrated STEAM Education Archive Video Released from Space

He spoke about the need for STEAM education, the current state and future of community-based STEAM education, the relationship between space and STEAM education, the latest Edutech developed by JAXA, and the cutting edge of the educational field.

Public Interest Incorporated Association Tokyo Youth Chamber Education Policy District Office (location: Hirakawa-cho, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Chairman: Keisuke Shimoyamada) will be open from 2023:4 on April 14, 19 (Friday) to Think Universally, Act Locally ~ A community-integrated STEAM education starting from the universe was held (Bellesalle Iidabashi Station 1F Hall). 

In Part 1, Mr. Hitoshi Shibata, Deputy Director of Education Industry Office, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, took the podium.With the theme of the current state of community-integrated STEAM education and a vision for the future, he gave a lecture on "Future Schools" that create diverse learning methods regardless of whether they are inside or outside the school.In the second part, astronaut Chiaki Mukai will be on stage.He gave a lecture about the future of education in Japan, which he felt only because he went to space. 

In Part 3, Ms. Tomoko Kitagawa, Director of JAXA Space Education Center, took the podium. In addition to touching on the latest STEAM teaching materials developed by AXA, he gave a lecture on the background of the development and the aims of the teaching materials.In the last part, Part 4, three JCI members and JCI Global Youth Ambassadors to the United Nations took the podium. Presentations were made on educational initiatives being promoted by JCI Japan and JCI Tokyo.

Part 1 Keynote Speech

He gave a lecture on the current state of the STEAM library in which the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry is involved, and explained why Japanese STEAM is not deepening in school education, examples of STEAM library utilization, local companies including JCI members and public education. Please share the matching case of. 

Part 2 Keynote Speech & Talk Session 

He talked about the really necessary education that he learned from going to space.After that, a talk session was held, and he gave a lecture on the relationship between space and STEAM education, and episodes of cross-cultural exchanges with foreigners he met during the training period.In addition, through the lecture, he gave a lecture on why English is necessary, the points that he devised in English education, and the necessity of English ability with concrete examples.

Part 3 STEAM experience with everyone

We experienced cutting-edge STEAM teaching materials developed by JAXA's Space Education Center.Mr. Shibata and Mr. Mukai also participated, and the whole venue experienced STEAM while discussing the development background of STEAM teaching materials and the aim of popularization.

Part 4 JCI's Educational Projects

The content, purpose, progress of efforts, and future plans of the current promotion campaign were presented.Last year's JCI Global Youth Ambassador to the United Nations reported on the details of last year's activities, the effects, and how the experience of the UN ambassador will live in the future.
